Washington Wild Things Fall Again to Lake Erie Crushers Sunday

The Washington Wild Things dropped game two of their three game weekend extended series against the Lake Erie Crushers 4-1 in Avon Ohio.

The pitching for both teams was strong throughout the entire contest with the Wild Things pitching staff striking out ten batters and the Crushers striking out a total of twelve batters.

After a back-and-forth pitching battle the first three innings of the game a sacrifice RBI by Lake Erie left fielder Kellen Kulbacki drove in right fielder Patrick Norris for the first run of the game. Kulbacki was 1-for-3 with the one RBI.

Washington scored their only run of the game in the top of the eighth inning when shortstop Kevyn Feiner hit a ground out RBI to drive in designated hitter Eric Stephens.

Wild Things starting pitcher Casey Barnes (5-4) pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing two runs (both earned) on seven hits. Barnes retired the first nine Lake Erie batters had no walks and struck out six. Reliever Steven Grife lasted 1 2/3 innings allowing two runs (both unearned) on one hit. Grife had one walk and three strikeouts.

Crushers starting pitcher Josh Roberts (7-4) lasted six innings allowing no runs and two hits. Roberts walked one batter and struck out eight. Ruben Flores finished the game for Lake Erie pitching the final inning. Flores walked two and struck out two.

The Wild Things end their series against the Crushers Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:55 on the MSA Sports Network.
